Stevie and Jay wish to say a heartfelt “THANK YOU!” to all who have participated in the inaugural  season of the Delray Shootout Ladder League and “WELCOME!” to all who will join us for Season 2.0!  We continue to enjoy the experience of being your hosts and remain committed to providing organized play in a fun and flexible manner that balances competition with camaraderie.

RESERVE A SLOT EACH WEEK

  • The weekly sign-up link will be posted to this page, shared to the Delray Beach Pickleball Club Facebook forum page, and shared via the league Remind group.

  • This page will be updated throughout the week to show current sign ups for each evening.

  • There is no limit to how many can participate in the league, though play on any given night will be limited by court space and time.

  • Playing slots are reserved in the order of survey responses; once all available slots are filled for a session others will cue on a Sub list. Stevie or Jay will post to the Remind group if a slot opens and the first Sub who responds fills the slot.

HOW THE LADDER WORKS

  • This format allows players to mostly play others of a similar skill level since your ladder ranking is based on your winning percentage (ratio of your points won to your total points possible). Results from the ten most recent rounds will be used for the calculation and will be published to the public ladder league page.

  • Each week, players who sign up to play will be placed in groups of four in the order of their ranking on the ladder. Players will play three doubles games in a round-robin fashion with the other players of the foursome. After the scores are added to the record, positions on the ladder are calculated based only on the matches that are actually played, so there’s no penalty for not playing.

  • Players who do not play for two consecutive weeks (6 sessions) will be moved off the ladder leader board and onto the inactive roster. However, scores and position will be saved so that when a player resumes play he or she can pick up where they left off with no penalty.

  • If the original ladder has split into multiple ladders, once a player stays at the top first or second position on the ladder for two weeks, he or she will move to the bottom of the next higher skill division. The same process applies when moving down to a lower skill division. Players will not be moved to a new ladder during the final three weeks of the season.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

At the end of the regular season of the ladder, top players in the league will compete in a Championship Round. In order to compete for the gold, silver, and bronze positions of each ladder, players must fulfill the following requirements:

Maintain an active status through the final week of the ladder.

  • Players who have not played for six consecutive sessions (two weeks) will be placed on the inactive list until they reserve a playing slot and record a new score for a round of the league.

  • Players who reserve a playing slot for a session cancelled by weather will not be penalized for that session.

  • Players who fail to show up for reserved slots will be immediately placed on the inactive list. A second infraction will result in removal from the league.

  • Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times and will receive one warning for any behavior detrimental to the successful execution and enjoyment of the league. The league directors reserve the right to remove a player from the league at any time.

Record at least six scores for individual rounds from any sessions over the eight weeks of the league.

  • For players who have moved from one ladder to the other, the number of rounds is calculated as their total from both ladders.

  • The inaugural season of the league consisted of 22 sessions with 44 rounds. Seven rounds were cancelled due to weather.

Maintain a winning percentage (points earned of points possible) that results in a final ladder position in the top 12 on either the Advanced or Intermediate ladder.

  • Final ladder position tiebreaker = most sessions reserved and played over the season.

  • The players with a final ranking of 1-4 on each ladder will play three games to 15, win by 1, switching partners each game. The player with the highest individual score at the end of the round will win the gold medal for that ladder. Tiebreaker = final ladder position.

  • The players with a final ranking of 5-8 on each ladder will play three games to 15, win by 1, switching partners each game. The player with the highest individual score at the end of the round will win the silver medal for that ladder. Tiebreaker = final ladder position.

  • The players with a final ranking of 9-12 on each ladder will play three games to 15, win by 1, switching partners each game. The player with the highest individual score at the end of the round will win the bronze medal for that ladder. Tiebreaker = final ladder position.

Players with a final ranking in the top 12 on each ladder must reserve a playing slot for the Championship Round at DBTC by responding to the invitation no later than Noon on Friday, November 1 or their playing slot will be forfeited and passed to the next ranked player on the ladder.
